What this encyclopedia is

The World Encyclopedia of AI is a reference work on artificial intelligence, Arabic in origin, with an English version. It gathers published knowledge about the field, organizes it, and links its parts together. It does not publish original research or private opinion.

Why

Arabic content on artificial intelligence is either hastily translated or undocumented. Much of it confuses what companies announce about their products with what has been established about them. The encyclopedia aims at three things:

  • A stable Arabic terminology used with the same meaning in every entry.
  • Links between the concept, the organization, the product, the legislation, and the event, so that the reader sees the whole picture.
  • Strict documentation: every piece of information has its source and the level of that source, and what an organization says about itself is expressly attributed to it.

What it covers

Everything directly related to artificial intelligence, or related in a way necessary to understand it, organized into 17 sections and 153 subsections. This includes:

  • History and theoretical foundations.
  • Models, systems, data, and computing.
  • Applications, safety, and ethics.
  • Political economy and regulation in countries around the world and in the Arab region.

How it is written

Entries are drafted with the assistance of artificial intelligence from published sources that were opened and read. The editor then reviews each entry before publication: checking its information against its sources and reviewing its Arabic and English versions. Details are in Methodology and Editorial Policy.

Publisher

The encyclopedia is published by an individual publisher, who is also its editor.
